Birrunga Gallery

Business Name: Birrunga Gallery
Contact Name: Birrunga Gallery
Address: 300 Adelaide St, Brisbane City QLD 4000, Australia

We are a Wiradyuri business operating with the permission of Uncle Eddie Ruska on the Traditional Lands of the Jagera, Yugerra & Turrbal People. We have been through the ceremony of being danced onto Country and gift exchange – retaining the valued message stick we were bestowed.

We have our own charity, the Wayne Weaver Foundation which provides pro bono pre & post release support for Indigenous prisoners, their families & communities. We are a recognised & awarded Indigenous Cultural Tourism destination & provider operating under the 2 core principals specified by WINTA (World Indigenous Tourism Alliance) that in all aspects, we the First Nations People are the value proposition, on our own cultural terms & that we hold the stories from which astute truth telling leads to education, engagement, empathy, awareness & healing. We offer our ongoing respect, thanks & esteem to our Elders across the lands of the continent.

The Henderson Gallery, now Birrunga Gallery, was opened at it’s South Brisbane location by the then QLD Deputy Premier Jackie Trad on 16th July 2016 & was reopened on 23rd February 2019, by Leeanne Enoch QLD Minister from the Arts, Science,  The Environment & the Great Barrier Reef, in it’s new CBD location.
